Tomorrow Is The Big Day - UPDATED
Monday, February 06, 2006
I had so much energy yesterday. I spent the day running errands and the evening sewing some duvet covers for our newly semi-decorated bedroom. (Long story on why I had to sew them).
Last night, I awoke to painful contractions at 4:30 am. Until then, all of my contractions have been painless. My first thought? "Oh no! We can't have the baby yet. I was waiting until tomorrow morning to shave my legs!."
The contractions lasted for about two hours. Not all of them were painful, but I was also having strange stabbing pains in strange places (I guess it’s not so strange if you're having a baby). I kept getting up to see if I was bleeding or if my water broke. All was fine. The strange thing is that baby was moving during the contractions. She usually moves before them, but not during. I eventually drifted off to sleep and dreamt that the hospital wouldn't take me and I was forced to have the baby in a dirty swamp where I was trying to get away from alligators! This is the first dream where I was actually pushing and laboring in my dream. Before, the baby just magically appeared without effort.
I've had periodic contractions during the day but only one of them really hurt (that would be one that I had while driving).
We're off our last doctor's appointment in a few minutes. Maybe we'll have a nice dinner tonight and celebrate our last night before baby joins our family.
UPDATE:
At the doctor's office, I had lots of off-the-chart contractions on the monitor (painless, but left me out of breath). The doctor said I'm now 2cm dilated, 75% effaced (down from 90% last week), and the baby's head is as far down as it will go until I dilate to 8 or 9 cm. The doctor said that everything looks great for the induction tomorrow. She's going to meet us at the hospital at 7:30am and get everything started.
Interesting fact: When she pokes a hole in the water bag, the fluid won't gush out. In fact, I'll hardly notice it because the baby's head will plug the hole. They only do it because it helps stimulate contractions.
Too Much Info: None of my previous exams have caused bleeding. Today's exam caused BLEEDING. I haven't seen blood like that in 9 months! Apparently it's okay and even normal though.
Oh, and it's impossible to pee in a cup at this stage. I can bairly reach around my belly and the whole thing just squeezes the wrong parts and nothing comes out! The nurse said it was okay, so it guess it's normal.
I took my final belly pictures today!

I was organizing my closet today and held up a pair of my pre-pregnancy pants. Shocking huh? I have to say it makes me feel better to know that my hips are wider and should be able to deliver the baby.

Hubby and I - Notice how my shirt doesn't even cover my belly anymore?

Whose belly is bigger? FYI: His belly isn't this big. In fact, I don't know how he managed to make it look like this.

Baby kisses

Side view.
Wish us luck tomorrow!

How exciting! Good luck tomorrow with the induction. The pics are way cute. I wished that I had taken some before our hospital trip, but I wasn't feeling too photogenic. You look great & I know what you mean about the hips. That was one of the first things I noticed after delivering Logan & I got up to walk. But I'm so glad they were bigger because the labor was a piece of cake (thanks to the epidural too)!

I am so excited for you! I hope everything goes well! Remember your hypnobirthing, the deep breathing really worked for me. And when it comes time to push remember the birth breathing, short deep breathes all the wat thru your body.
Can't wait to hear how it goes. Enjoy your last night together... - At 7:02 AM, said...

Oh yeah, and I can't believe you can still shave your legs. I can't reach. I can't even get close. My last try was about a month ago, with honestly comic results.
(The fact that I'm horribly nearsighted probably makes it worse.)
