Funny Faces
Saturday, February 25, 2006

Lilly can make the funniest faces. We rarely catch them on camera, but this one is great! She rolls her eyes in separate directions and sticks out her tongue. We have yet to capture a big grin, but we're working on it.
Last night, we dressed her up for company. My husband's family came over for dinner. I was not feeling up to sharing Lilly with anyone and didn't want to host our weekly Friday night dinner because I didn't want to run around playing hostess while someone else held my precious and I was unable to supervise. Especially since I virtually no sleep the night before and ended up sleeping a lot during the day so I missed Lilly. Hubby promised me that I wouldn't have to do any work, and I didn't. Dinner went pretty well. I ducked out after two hours to feed Lilly and give her a bath. Now my in-laws are off on a month-long international trip.
Hubby asked me if Lilly would still do this when she is 15. Aren't they cute! Here's a link to the best pictures so far:

I don't know that you know this, but I also wear hearing aids, and I'm terrified of not hearing my son. So much so that I've begun sleeping with one hearing aid in at night and sleeping on my side. It's the only way I get any sleep. We also have a baby monitor that's cranked to 11 right next to my head so in addition to the hearing aid, we have that. Glad to hear you guys are doing so great!! We're slowly getting into a schedule here, and things are much better than they were the first few days. And I'm sure they'll get better from here on out...

Corinne,
How funny. Sometimes I think I'm the only person this age with hearing aids. It's nice to know that you wear them too and face the same struggles. I thought about sleeping with one hearing aid in, but Lilly sleeps in a basinet at the foot of our bed so Hubby just wakes me up when she needs attention.
I'm really nervous about having her in the nursery since it's upstairs and down the hall (in other words, not even Hubby would be able to hear her). I'm so used to checking on her throughout the night. Right now we don't have a monitor or anything. I simply pack her around with me and Hubby lets me know if I don't hear her cry (he works from home and usually in the same room as Lilly and I).
We're debating on getting a monitor or a home security system. There are pro's and cons to each. I think we'll end up with the monitor simply because it's portable. Either way, we need to do it soon because Hubby will be taking a business trip in a couple of weeks and I'll have to take care of Lilly at night by myself, which makes me nervous. Not that a monitor will help me if I'm in the same room with her. I'll probably end up doing what you do and sleep with one hearing aid (it's difficult to sleep when I can hear noises though). - At 9:32 AM, Isabel said...

How cool that you both wear hearing aids. What are the odds of you guys finding each other? All hail the world wide web! (My Dad lost all the hearing in one of his ears when he was a little boy. Does that mean I can be friends with you guys to?!) :-)
I love the pictures! And I love that you didn't have to "play hostess" on Friday night.
And I love how your hubby just wants to snuggle Lilly. That is precious. - At 4:14 PM, Lisa said...

Lilly is so very, very beautiful. Sounds like you are loving mommyhood. And your hubby looks so cute with her too.
Yeay you! Yeay daddy! Yeay Lilly!
