Who would have thought sock puppets (oil on chalk-board) could convey so much emotion and character? Kristen Johnson thought of the idea while recovering from recovering from an accident. She was doped up on pain-killers and wanted her friends to do a sock-puppet show for her. They never did - she was quickly running out of favors as it was. After she recovered, the idea stuck with her.
