Welcome to my life. As a newish stay-at-home mom, I'm trying to figure out what my life is about. I know I'm a wife and mother, but who am I? This blog is my forum to find out and my therapy...

And Just When I Thought I was Done With The House...

I met with the real estate agent, Elaine, this afternoon to put the house on the market. Of course, Elaine wouldn't be doing her job if she didn't give me a whole list of things to fix. Most of which will go directly on my husband's "Honey Do" list, since I obviously did a bad job to begging with or they wouldn't need to be redone! It's a good thing he's so handy and helpful.

I want to price the house to sell because it doesn't do me any good to hold out for a high price and continue to fork out money to pay the mortgage, electric bill, utilities, HOA dues, etc. In order to make the house more appealing, Elaine recommended that I replace the stove, which is 22 years old, and the original linoleum kitchen floor which is in sorry shape. Don't get me wrong. I didn't live in a dump, but I boutght the place with the intention of fixing it up a bit. Shortly after buying the house, I met my husband and most of my home improvement (ie I'm single and bored) projects fell to the wayside.

So, I stopped by Sears Outlet on the way home and bought a brand new stove for $339, which will be delivered tomorrow. While I'm waiting for the delivery guys to call with an estimated delivery time, I'll see if I can get someone to give me an estimate on tileing the kitchen floor. And maybe this weekend Trevor can fix some of the minor issues, such a recaulking the bathtub/shower and rearranging some furniture. Then... We should really be ready to list the house.

Don't you hate that we do all these home imporvements to sell the house. Too bad we can't all be motivatated enough to actually do the work while we actually live there and get to enjoy it. Oh the horror!!

We just finished our house after living in it UNFINISHED for 3 years. I am not lieing when I say we finished it the *night before* we put the "For Sale" sign up. Man I would have loved to have enjoyed the damn house while I lived there.

Good luck with the projects this weekend.

I know! I learned a big lesson. From now on, I will just spend the money to fix something up so that I can enjoy it too. Good luck selling your house and building the new one!
