Welcome to my life. As a newish stay-at-home mom, I'm trying to figure out what my life is about. I know I'm a wife and mother, but who am I? This blog is my forum to find out and my therapy...

33 Weeks and 25% Effaced!

We had our second fetal monitoring session this morning. Baby is doing really well, as usual. According to the monitor, my uterus is so active that the doctor told me to take it easy for the next two and a half weeks. That means no exercise beyond light walking. At 36 weeks, I can do whatever I'd like, but just because I can have baby at 36 weeks, doesn't mean that's the best thing for baby. She probably needs to bake for nearly 40 weeks.

The doctor checked my cervix again. I'm not dilated, but I am 25% effaced! Should I be excited about this? I don't know, but I am!!

My family thinks that baby will arrive early. Maybe they are right. I've been totally obsessed with newborn diapers lately - or rather the fact that I don't have any! Having a guest stay in the nursery for the past couple of weeks was really distressing (she's not a clean-freak - if you get my drift). But now everyone has gone home and I can finish working on the nursery! I'll post pictures soon.

Last week I went shopping for my hospital bag and bought a couple pairs of pajamas. I'm packing my hospital bag today. Here's what's going in it:

  • Three pajama sets (button down in the front)

  • Four pairs of underwear

  • Hand-me-down nursing bras (because I don't know what size I'll be and I couldn't find one I liked at the store)

  • One Sleep bra (in case none of the nursing bras fit)

  • Socks

  • Variety of hard candies

  • Fruit roll snacks for Hubby

  • Going home outfit for baby

  • Baby Book (for footprints)

  • iPod with Hypnobirthing Stuff & Audiobooks

  • 6 Starbucks giftcards worth 5 dollars each (we're not above bribing nurses)

  • Toiletries

  • Digital camera with charger

Holy crap...you're going to have a baby!! Hooray!

And your list for your hospital bag sounds great. I love the idea of the gift cards for the nurses. Where did you read about that??

Good luck taking it easy. That's hard to do!

Wow...early!! I hear so often that first-time moms go late that I haven't even considered being on-time, much less early. 33 WEEKS, SO EXCITING!!

Wow, you're so close! I'm so excited for you! Don't forget to take some slippers in case you have to walk around the hospital, too :)

I'll be keeping you company as I'm confined to bedrest for the next 12 days!! I too am obsessed with all the things I still need to get done and not being able to do them myself, well I'm just gonna have to learn to sit back and let other people run around for me. Sounds like that would be hard for you too...

Sounds like you're ready!! I'm so not ready, it's not even funny! But your post reminds me to get going on the packing and get the nursery somewhat ready.
