Welcome to my life. As a newish stay-at-home mom, I'm trying to figure out what my life is about. I know I'm a wife and mother, but who am I? This blog is my forum to find out and my therapy...

The Mullet People

Back home, I know several people with mullets. I've often wondered how they got left behind in the fashion world. Did they just love they way they looked in mullets? Maybe they had a mullet during those formative years and it became part of them? Or perhaps they just didn't like the next style to come along and decided to wait until something came along that suited them?

If it's latest option is true, then I'm in big trouble. I don't especially like the latest fashion trends. They look like maternity wear. I already feel fat enough now that I weigh 127lbs and still have a puffy face from Prednisone so I have no intention of wearing baggy clothes - even if they are in style.

For example, one of these tops is a maternity top and the others aren't. Are they really much different (except the mannequin perhaps)?

And can we just say no to these pants! Ohmygosh! I cannot bring myself to to wear this. If this is were fashion is going, I'm staying behind.

However, I have to admit I do like the top below:

Maybe I'm starting to come around and won't become the future equivalent of a mullet-person.

Speaking of fashion trends... I'm thinking of getting a wig. See, I'm stuck with a bad hair-cut and can't do much about it until it grows out. It's bothering me so much and I feel so ugly. I went shopping for my aunt, who has cancer, and came across this fablous wig store. They have the most amazing cuts and even show your scalp through the part - making it look like natural hair. Believe me, it's very tempting.

I'm afraid I tend to get left behind when it comes to fashion - I know what I like and I know what suits me so I go for that... especially since most the clothes today are built for people with less curves than me! Don't get me wrong, I love my shape, but the trend doesn't seem to flatter me atm!

As to the wig, I say go for it! I think wigs are cool, whether worn for fun or more serious reasons... and unless you want to kill your hair with intensive cuts, styles, extensions etc it's the only way you get to have fun with changing hairstyles without waiting forever (although saying that my hair grows so freakin' fast I get fed up when I find a style I like and it's grown out completely in 6 weeks!!)

I am also confused by the latest fashion trends. I think us ladies that have worn maternity shirts know that these shirts bear a striking resemblance to what we wore when pregnant, so we aren't up to wearing them when we aren't pregnant.

I bought one last week that I have to take back. It's horrible.

And about the bad haircut...what about some extensions?? That might help until your hair grows out!

As a pregnant woman - I don't even like the non-maternity in style clothes out there right now - even though they could easily fit my pregnant shape. So I hear ya about that - and about the mullets as well!
