Glucose Test
Tuesday, November 29, 2005
I had my 28 week Dr's appointment this morning. There are four doctors in the practice so we are now seeing a different doctor every other appointment (just so we can get to know everyone because we don't know who will deliver the baby). Today was the first time we saw another doctor. While we were waiting, we heard the receptionist tell another patient that she couldn't switch from our doctor to the doctor we were about to see because it's against the office policy. We sat there thinking that this new doctor must be really great. So, we waited and waited and waited. The office was in complete chaos. Almost an hour later, it was becoming dangerously close for the exact time that my blood needed to be drawn for my glucose test. Hubby was starting to get really nervous because he didn't want to miss the deadline which would mean I'd have to take the three hour test. After several reminders about the time from Hubby, they sent us to the blood lab with our form, which didn't specify the glucose test! Since we had the empty syrup bottle in hand, the lab agreed to draw extra blood then and call the doctor later because we only had 2 minutes to spare.
After the blood test, we went back downstairs and finally got to see the doctor. The new doctor came in and didn't even sit down. She was obviously in a mad rush. She just asked if I could feel the baby moving, measured me, and listened to about three heart beats. All of this took about two minutes then she asked if we had any questions. We looked at each other and said, "Not really".
Had this been our normal doctor, we would have had several questions for her. Primarily, we wanted to tell her about my freaky pains the other week. We also had a few other things to discuss (how exausted I've been, etc). Needless to say, we both walked out of there unimpressed. We didn't even feel like we could talk to the woman!
Anyway, we have another appointment in two weeks and should get the results of my blood work in the next few days. Oh, and we have another sonogram on December 6th to check on the baby's kidney's.

So sorry about the new doctor... Hopefully things will go better next time. Hope you're feeling well today though!! About the freaky pains... I've had some pretty strong Braxton Hicks, and they kinda scared me, but the doctor told me to drink a very large glass of water, and put my feet up... and that seemed to help. :)
