Welcome to my life. As a newish stay-at-home mom, I'm trying to figure out what my life is about. I know I'm a wife and mother, but who am I? This blog is my forum to find out and my therapy...

Battle Scars

We went to the perinatologist yesterday to check on baby's kidney's. Baby was not cooperating so we didn't get a good profile picture. Doesn't she have a nice shaped head though?

The baby's kidneys are actually better! Well, one is better and the other the same. The left kidney is 4mm, which is normal and the right kidney is still at 8mm. This is good news as you only need one functioning kidney to live! Both of her kidneys are functioning and we're hoping that the dilation in the right kidney will go down by the next visit. Regardless of the outcome of next month's sonogram, the baby will still be monitored by the pediatric urologist as a child.

Needless to say Hubby is extremely relieved that she has one good kidney. I knew baby was fine all along. Oh, and baby now weighs exactly 3lbs, which is what I estimated. And, the little foot I was feeling (the one everyone told me I couldn't feel) is indeed a foot. So there!

Pregnancy Update:

I have been so hormonal for the last two days. I'm normally have very mellow and easy-going person, but lately everything has either made me angry or stressed and I've been in tears off and on for two days. Oh! And to make matters worse, I got my first stretch mark yesterday. It's rather faint, but still disturbs me. I was crying to my mom about it and she told me that they were my "battle scars", which made me laugh and look at it in a better way.

On Another Note:

The weather here in Dallas has turned icky! It's 24 degrees outside and we're expecting our first ice storm of the season. Consequently our first childbirth class, which was scheduled for tonight, has been postponed until Friday. So, I've been working at my desk with candles lit all afternoon. It's so cozy and nice! I took this picture of one of the candles. Have I mentioned that I love this camera?

I am so glad to hear that all is *better* with baby. Phew. I am sure you and hubby are feeling great about that.

Sorry about the hormones. I cry a lot as it is...I am not looking forward to crying even more. Blah.

And sorry about the stretch mark.

Have fun with your Mom there. I'm totally jealous!

Good to know I am not the only one who is scared of stretch marks. I feel slightly ashamed admitting it, but honestly stretch marks are not that pleasant! I do like the battle scar image though, I shall try to keep that in mind...
