Birthdays

So I'm a little weird. This isn't news. I couldn't decorate Lilly's nursery with a store-bought crib bedding package. No, I had to sew my own and buy things here and there (mostly at IKEA) to create what I thought was a a bright and interesting nursery. Well, now she's about to turn one and I'm planning her family birthday party (not to be confused with the joint baby party).I just got back from party city. They had a lot of cute things, but they are just so commercialized and there's nothing creative. I hate the "First Birthday" tableware and the character themes seem inappropriate since Lilly doesn't know who Strawberry Shortcake or Sponge Bob are.
But I have an interesting idea. Lilly likes eyeballs. For months, she been poking everything in the eyes. I thought this would pass, but it hasn't yet. So, I just might throw an eyeball party for her.
I'm thinking of buying a bunch of silly glasses (you know the slinky eyes, jumbo sunglasses, etc) for everyone to wear during the party. Of course, silly hats would be great too. Maybe I should provide an area to make your own silly hat so keep people entertained since we probably won't be playing games. Then we take pictures of everyone with their silly stuff and Lilly. Maybe that would be too silly though? Heck, she's a one year old. They like silly stuff. What do I care if people think it's stupid?
Anyway, my point is to entertain Lilly and make her smile. She would be so excited to see people she knows in funny glasses and hats. My mom and I tried some on at Party City and she loved it.
So, now I just need to think some more things along the eyeball theme. Any ideas?

Wow Lily isso lucky to have a mommy who makes nice things just for her! I think it's wonderful!! No more ideas to add about the party though, unfortunately.
