Welcome to my life. As a newish stay-at-home mom, I'm trying to figure out what my life is about. I know I'm a wife and mother, but who am I? This blog is my forum to find out and my therapy...

The World of Pretend

Lilly is starting to pretend play. It's quite surprising. I thought she'd be much older when she started. She loves to feed her baby cheerios. It's different than when she feeds me cheerios because she'll put the cheerio in the dolls mouth and then eat it. She knows if she feeds me a cheerio, I actually eat it.

Along these same lines, we're taking a baby sign language class, where they are playing pretend with the babies. Last week was about going to bed. The teacher wrapped a baby doll in a blanket and pretended to put her to bed. Lilly was fascinated she we've been putting her animals and dolls to bed at home. She loves it.

So, when I went to Wal-Mart this morning, I picked up a 4 dollar bath baby for Lilly. Our next pretend play will be to give the baby a bath. I also stopped by the library and got some children's books about bath time.

I can hardly believe she's old enough for this, but she seems to really understand and like playing pretend. Oh! I also got finger paints and paper. But I don't expect that to go well. She'll probably just eat it.

That's really cool!! Go Lilly!!

How are you finding the baby signing? We do this at nursery and have a sign of the month etc... one of the little girls in our room has really got the hang of it and was using the signs for "more" and "eat" to tell us when she was hungry!! It was sooo exciting... the other babies just look at us like we're crazy when we try to show them the signs though lol
