Bazzare Amish Town Names

I've been reading the New York Times Bestseller called Magical Thinking: True Stories. The author is hilarious and the book is quite entertaining - although I now know more details about his love life than I'd like. One chapter is about his visit to the Amish areas of Pennsylvania. He talked about visiting Blue Ball and Intercourse Pennsylvania, and how the Amish, who live simple lives are actually quite rich. First of all, I couldn't believe any respectable Amish town would have names like that! I mean, these are people who avoid zippers and all technology! So, I googled it and sure enough, the towns exist and are Amish. Strange huh?
As far as the Amish being rich, I'm not sure that's true. While, real estate values have risen as their towns become tourist attractions and sell land to the big dogs like Wal-Mart, they still live simple lives and pool their money together to provide a starting point for new families.

I have always loved to hear about the Amish. I should look into reading this book. It might be a good one for the plane ride!!

I read "Dry" by the same author.
It was his account of getting sober. I couldn't put it down! I guess I need to pick this one up and read it too.
