60 Flights of Stairs


Holy cow! I climbed sixty flights of stairs at the gym this afternoon! This is the first time I've braved the stair-climber and it was an awesome workout. I thought it would be too much for me, but I more flights I climbed, the more excited I was to go home and tell Hubby that I climbed 60 flights of stairs!!!


Part of my problem exercising has been pushing myself. See, I hate to sweat and I hate to be hot and it gives me a headache. I used to put very little effort into it so, of course, I'm in pretty bad shape. It only takes about a minute or so for my heart rate to reach 170+. But this will improve over time.


I never understood how Hubby could play squash, take a shower, and still be sweating after a shower. Well, now I do. I worked so hard today that I was actually sweating after my shower. How odd.


Anyway, I'm rather excited to do the stair-climber again in a few days. It was much more fun than the other machines and it didn't exhaust my legs as I had expected.


Tomorrow is my free-weight lower-body day. Fun-fun. Speaking of such, yesterday I did upper body free weights and surprisingly, the free-weight room was mostly full of women - and not buff women either. I was so excited to see that I was lifting 15 lbs when some of them were lifting 5lbs. Maybe I'm not the wimp I thought I was.
