This Eco-living stuff is addictive. I don't want to admit to how many hours I've spent looking crap up online over the last week or so. Let's just say I've been surfing the net in lou of naps and after Lilly has gone to bed. I even stayed up late a couple of nights.Anyway, I visited out local green energy store, Current Energy, to check out their products. I purchased some CFL light bulbs. The Neptun CFL's are a bit more expensive than the brands they sell at Home Depot, but the light is not nearly as harsh (we had to return the Home Depot bulbs). Anyway, Current Energy offers a home energy audit for 700 dollars! Good Grief. At that price, I'll just do it myself.
I ordered a Kill-A-Watt from Amazon.com along with some smart power strips (that sense when a device is turned off and prevents phantom energy usage). I can't wait until it arrives. I'm going to go around the house and calculate how much energy everything uses. It's crazy that we're paying around 700 dollars a month on utilities. Surely there are things we can do to drastically lower our bill.
